Armorsmith

Armorsmith is an Advanced Profession that allows the player to create socketed protective or cosmetic gear, consumable shield generators, and SEA syntheziers for players to use.

Unlocking Armorsmith

Obtaining Novice Armorsmith requires Engineering IV: Complex Systems in the Artisan profession, and a total of 27,300 General Crafting experience (10,500 for the Artisan tree and 16,800 for Novice Armorsmith.)

Armor Types

There are three types of armor available. Rather than providing different degrees of protection, armor type usage correlates to the combat profession(s) being used by the player, and the armor appearances that are available. Here are the types, their associated professions, and appearances:

Armor TypeUsed ByAppearances
Reconnaissance
Pistoleer, Rifleman, Smuggler

Ithorian Guardian, Kashyyykian Ceremonial, Mabari, Tantel, Ubese
Battle
Carbineer, Combat Medic, Fencer, Pikeman, Ranger, Swordsman

Bone, Ithorian Defender, Kashyyykian Black Mountain, Marauder, Padded, R.I.S
Assault

Armor Slots

A full set of armor consists of 7 different functional pieces, as well as a number of non-protective, cosmetic pieces. The players total Protection Value is derived from an average of all the functional pieces equipped. Both functional and cosmetic pieces can also be created with 1 to 4 Sockets that will accept Armor Skill Enhancement Attachments. These slots are:

Functional Slots
  • Head Armor
  • Body Armor
  • Leg Armor
  • Arm Armor (4 separate pieces)
    • Left/Right Bicep
    • Left/Right Bracer
Cosmetic Slots
  • Bandolier
  • Belt
  • Hand Armor
  • Foot Armor

Armorsmith Skill Mods

There are three Skill Mods specific to Armorsmith, which are:

  • Armor Assembly - This skill determines the chance of success when crafting armor. A higher Assembly skill also increases the odds that applicable pieces are created with up to 4 Sockets for SEAs.
  • Armor Experimentation - This skill determines how many experimentation points you receive when creating armor. At the moment, the Experimentation Point cap for Armorsmith is 12, however there are effects beyond the point cap that are possible with additional Armor Experimentation beyond +125 that have not yet been fully discovered.
  • Armor Customization - This skill mod determines the color palette access when creating armor. This skill maxes out at Armorsmith.

Creating Armor

Armor itself is comprised of a number of components that determine it's overall effectiveness. Ordered from start to finish, the process of assembling armor is as follows:

  1. Protection Layers (OPTIONAL) - These components that are used to increase the specific protection value of one or more damage types, while often decreasing the protection values on the other types. Segments do not require Protection Layers to create, however this is the primary method for customizing a suit for specific needs.
  2. Armor Segments - These come in three varieties; Reconnaissance, Battle, and Assault. Armor segments can accept up to three Protection Layers, as well as a slot for Bio-Engineer Enhancements.
  3. Armor Cores - These come in three varities, Reconnaissance, Battle, and Assault, as well as three tiers, Basic, Standard, and Advanced. Cores are what will ultimately determine the protection values that the armor will inherit, as well as which armor appearances can be used. The three tiers allow for applying 1 (Basic), 2 (Standard), or 3 (Advanced) armor segments in order to increase the overall protection value of the core.
  4. Armor Appearances - These are what cosmetic form the armor will take. Each appearance type is associated with a specific armor class, and will only accept cores from that class. The protection value of the cores used are directly imprinted onto the armor upon assembly. There are also optional slots here for Bio-Enhancement and Appearance Enhancements.

Content to come.

Armor Enhancement Synthesizers

Unique to SWG Nexus, Enhancement Synthesizers are required to convert Skill Bits obtained via Profession Trainers with Experience Points, into clothing or armor Skill Enhancement Attachments, or SEAs. Armorsmith is the only profession capable of creating the Armor variant, which when used will provide a SEA that can only be socketed into armor with at least one unused socket.
